Church Care Groups

When faced with an unexpected pregnancy, as they consider their circumstances and support system, too often women find they don’t have sufficient resources to pursue all their available pregnancy options or to thrive after they have made their choice. Clients will ask, “Who will be with me when I need support? Who will come help me when I can’t handle things on my own?”

This is why the strategy of Aide Grossesse is to collaborate with local churches, Christians, and community organizations to fulfill the vision of no one left alone when facing unexpected pregnancy and its effects. In order to offer comprehensive support TOGETHER, we need the body of Christ to stand with individuals and families who are in need of kingdom love and care.

Support a Collaborative Strategy

Aide Grossesse Quebec and interested Churches will sign a Referral Agreement which establishes standards and boundaries to support AGQ’s strategy to collaborate with local churches, Christians, and community organizations to fulfill the vision of no one left alone when facing unexpected pregnancy and its effects.

Establish Standards for Quality Care

The Referral Agreement will ensure common foundational beliefs and values between organizations; will establish a consistent referral process and safe transition of care from one organization to another; and will assist the Church in providing a high-level of ongoing service delivery to families and individuals who are pregnant, caring for an infant, or are in distress as a result of a reproductive loss, and who are interested in a relational form of support from a Church community.

Increase Clients’ Support Networks

Following the referral, individuals and families will have gained access to support from two separate, caring communities—Aide Grossesse and their local Church. The duration and nature of the relationship and support provided by the Church through its Church Care Group ministry will be determined by the Church on a case-by-case basis, giving consideration to the resources of the Church and its members, and the wishes of the individuals/families supported.

Referral Agreement benefits include:

  • Increased long term support for vulnerable families by the Christian community as they extend kingdom love and care;

  • Supportive, positive relationships and strong community networks fostered between AGQ clients and the Church;

  • More women, men and children thriving in community having received caring support;

  • Greater opportunities for Christian service in helping those affected by an unexpected pregnancy.

Starting the ministry in your church

Initial considerations:

  1. Pray for direction and wisdom from God.

  2. Speak to your Church leadership so they can discern if God is calling their congregation to serve the community in this way. (Include AGQ Ambassador if applicable.)

  3. Contact Aide Grossesse to discuss your Church’s interest and learn about the process.

  4. Discuss who would be interested to join the Church Care Group to provide hospitality and family-style assistance, considering availability and capacity.

Key steps include:

  1. Establish the new Church ministry;

  2. With guidance from Aide Grossesse, Church leadership appoint a Team Leader to oversee group members, service interactions, and liaising between AGQ and Church leadership;

  3. Receive group member applications and participate in training.
